Delhi - Jaipur - Agra - Khajuraho - Varanasi - Kathmandu

Day 1 : ARRIVE DELHI
Arrive Delhi – meet & transfer to hotel.       
Overnight : Hotel in Delhi

 

 

Day 2 : DELHI
After breakfast full day sightseeing tour of Delhi.
Tour start with OLD DELHI – visiting Jama Masjid. At the Chandni Chowk board cycle rickshaws and see the sights & sounds of this busy street with its quaint shops & ancient gateways.
Later tour of NEW DELHI - drive past the stately government buildings of the British Era designed by Lutyen’s, including the Indian Gate & the Presidential Palace.  Continue onto the beautiful Humayun’s  tomb of the Mughal era & thereafter visit the towering minaret of Qutab Minar.

Day 3 : DELHI - JAIPUR 
After breakfast drive to Jaipur (5 hrs)
Jaipur is the state capital of Rajasthan and owes its name, planning and foundation to the Maharaja Jai Singh II. In 1727, Jai Singh decided to move from his hillside fortress at Amber to the plains, and thus Jaipur was conceived. It is also know as the "Pink City", derived from the pink painted sandstone from which the buildings in the old walled city are constructed.

Day 4 : JAIPUR
After breakfast depart for Amber Fort (12 kms) - Visit the imposing Amber fort on the outskirts of the Pink City.
In the afternoon tour of Pink City – visiting the imposing City Palace now a museum, the ancient Observatory, the Palace of Winds and the picturesque bazaars of the walled city.

Day 5 : JAIPUR - AGRA
After breakfast drive to Agra. (6 to 7 hours) Enroute visiting Fatehpur Sikri - the extraordinary city built by Akbar the Great, deserted 14 years later, but which, during its brief span, exceeded London in both grandeur and population.
Arrive & Check into the hotel.

Day 6 : AGRA
After breakfast visit Taj Mahal a monument of love built by Moguls, an incredible 20,000 workman’s labored on it, day and night, for over 20 years.
In the afternoon visit the Red Fort built by three generations of Mughal Emperors between 1565 and 1573.

Day 7 : AGRA – KHAJURAHO via ORCHA
After an early breakfast transfer to railway station.
Depart by Bhopal Shatabdi to Jhansi.
Arrive Jhansi – meet and drive to the village of Orchha (20 Kms) which was once a capital of the region, here an old fort on an island in the river contains several exquisite palaces.
Therafter continue drive to Khajuraho (150 Kms) - World famous for its magnificent temples built by the rich and powerful Chandela emperors. The temples present the best examples of Indian art and architecture.

Day 8 : KHAJURAHO
After breakfast Visit the Khajuraho temples where forthright sculptures celebrate the joy of life and love for which there is no equivalent in the world.

Day 9 : KHAJURAHO - VARANASI
After breakfast transfer to Airport.
Depart by flight (Jet Airways) to Varanasi.
Arrive & transfer to hotel enroute Visit Sarnath - 5 miles out of Varanasi - it is one of the holies Buddhist sites in the world, where Buddha preached his first Sermon in 590 B.C. Sarnath has a fine Museum filled with sculptures found at the site.

Day 10 : VARANASI
Early morning boat-ride on the Ganges River at dawn to see the Hindu pilgrims flock to the ghats and have a ritual morning bath, practice yoga and perform 'puja' to the rising sun....all rituals evolved and derived from thousands of years of worship and traditions. 
Also cruise past the Manikarnika ghat to see the pyres being lit for the first cremations of the day. After the Boatride visit a living Hindu temple to see the ceremony of morning "puja".
Return to hotel for breakfast.
After breakfast walk through the myriad of narrow lanes in the Old city, past the many ancient temples, shrines and little shops crammed with customers looking for the famous silver and gold brocades for weddings or ever for cremation cloth. The most famous temple is the Kashi Vishvanath or "Golden" temple, which though off-limits to non-Hindus, can be seen from the top floor of the old house opposite it.
In the evening visit the Ghats to see the Puja ceremony on River Ganges.

Day 11 : VARANASI - KATHMANDU
After breakfast transfer to the airport.
Depart by Indian Airlines (IC 751) to Kathmandu
Arrive Kathmandu & transfer to Hotel
Orientation tour of Kathmandu - Visit Kathmandu Durbar Square - It is a historic seat of royalty. It is here that kings of Nepal are crowned and their coronations celebrated. It is most impressive sight and is crowded with ancient temples and palaces reflecting the religious and cultural life of the people. It is also home to Kathmandu's Kumari, or 'living goddess', a young girl believed to be a reincarnation of the goddess Durga. It is listed in the UNESCO World Heritage Monument list in 1979.

Day 12 : KATHMANDU
After breakfast visit to Swayambhunath : Located approximately 4 km/2.5 miles, Buddhist stupa this is said to be 2000 years old. The stupa, which forms the main structure, is composed of a solid hemisphere of brick and earth supporting a lofty conical spire capped by a pinnacle of copper gilt.
In the afternoon Patan - 20 kms from Kathmandu - the city with thousands of golden rooftops where they made the film "Little Buddha".  An important ancient city of Kathmandu valley.

Day 13 :  KATHMANDU
After breakfast visit to Pashupatinath: Situated 5 kilometers east of Kathmandu city, this temple is one of the holiest Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.
In the afternoon excursion to Bhadgaon (14 kilometres east of Kathmandu) - home of medieval art and architecture, also known as Bhaktapur. It is situated at an altitude of 1401 m. Shaped like a conch-shell.

Day 14 : KATHMANDU – DELHI
After Breakfast transfer to airport
Depart by flight (Jet Airways) to Delhi
Arrive Delhi & transfer to Hotel
Overnight : Hotel in Delhi

 

 

Day 15 : DEPARTURE DELHI
